According to Wikipedia: Problematic social media use, also known as social media addiction or social media overuse, is a proposed form of psychological or behavioural dependence on social media platforms, also known as Internet addiction disorder, and other forms of digital media overuse.
The use of social media is not addictive to a majority of people but there are those to whom it is an addiction and some who are dangerously close. It could be quite a challenge especially among the younger generation but that does not mean that the older ones are exempted from its lures.
We are in a lockdown. So much time on so many people’s hands that they turn to social media. Why is social media so addictive? I am no addiction or social media addiction therapist, but I did come across a great article by Martin Boeddeker the owner of the site www.findfocus.net.

The battle to put the use of social media use within normal limits gets harder by the day because it is actually more beneficial for the social media companies for you to remain on their platforms so that they can bombard you with ads. That’s how they make money; when people see the ads and respond they make money.
You will be shocked to know the amount of information the social media platforms have on you. Social media is good but as someone once said, too much of everything is not good. Let everything be done in moderation.
