Is Diabetes Reversible?

Is Diabetes ReversibleOur topic today:  Is Diabetes Reversible?

If it is, what is the solution?

I wish I could hear your response. Well, let’s find out together.

To really discover the solution, we have to first understand how it occurs and why it occurs.

So what is Diabetes? Diabetes is a condition where excess Sugar is deposited in the blood. There are two types of Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 1 is usually found in children and young adults. Here, there is a deficiency in the hormone responsible for breaking down sugar which is insulin. No one knows why this hormone is deficient.

Type 2 Diabetes usually occurs in adults. Here, insulin is produced but over time one of two things could happen. The pancreas is overwhelmed by the sugar load and cannot produce adequate insulin to break down the sugars or the insulin produced becomes resistant or ineffective hence, it is available but it is not working (It is not breaking down sugars).

Type 1 cannot be reversed it can be managed. However, there is some hope for type 2. According to research from Newcastle University England; reported in the journal Diabetologia; patients with diabetes type 2, can be cured if a 600 calorie-per-day diet is strictly followed for two months.

So there is hope and the hope is living and adopting a healthy lifestyle. So does that mean stop eating what you are currently eating?

Well, it could be yes, it could be no. So I will give you 5 things you can do daily, that will help you start living a healthy lifestyle.

1st, have it in mind that living healthy is not the end of the world. It is simple and it is doable and you can do it.

2nd, exercise every single day. Don’t worry about the amount of time you devote. First work towards making it a habit. For busy people, I’ll advise, do it every single day.

3rd, have a bowl of salad every day for lunch. The salad should be rich in all colours of vegetables, especially green vegetables. It should be raw. For taste, you can add nuts, seeds, instead of mayonnaise or salad dressings. However, if you can get veganaise that is a healthy substitute.

4th Have a cup of water with lemon daily. This helps to remove toxins from your body. Toxins occur where the blood sugar levels are high, as this serves a conducive environment for germs

5th Take a cup of any green juice daily. There is a whole lot more I can say and meals you can eat to help bring down your sugar level. But… I need to go now.

Next week, we will continue and if there is time we might even have a cooking class where I will demonstrate how to make some of these meals.
