It is said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If what you have been doing has only been bringing in so much in results, then it is time to change and do something more innovative.  In any given industry, you find firms doing the same thing everybody else is doing and getting the same industry-standard results. Therefore, applying other industry ideas and growth strategies into your practice, it will become your breakthrough strategies for law firms. It will ultimately differentiate and stand you, your brand and law firm from others.

Consequently, if you limit your strategy to the same thing every other person is doing around you, you can only produce at best, incremental gains, and at worse, you could easily lose ground.

Normal begets normal results. Those who step out of the box and try out new things are mostly the ones who make great discoveries and experience a major turnaround.

Doing the same old, same old is the norm worldwide. The same vein in the legal industry,  same story – doing the same thing everyone else is doing.

Study what others in other fields are doing

To stand out from the pack: Look around. Observe. Study what others in other fields are doing. Borrow ideas. Adapt it to your practice. Don’t close your mind and say it won’t work. See how you can make it work and work really well.

Identify the fundamental principles that drive the successes in other fields and pick the most powerful, effective state of the art breakthrough approaches to introduce to your practice. This will become breakthrough strategies for law firms in your environment.

Another example of borrowing from another industry is from FedEx.

What made them an “overnight” success that disrupted deliveries? Where did they get the idea to transform their industry? The banking sector.  A totally unrelated field you may say, but that is where the breakthrough innovation came from. Federal Express (FedEx) applied the banking industry’s method of clearing cheques overnight to the overnight delivery of packages. It totally transformed their business.
