I’m sure you may be wondering today’s title ‘You May Be Digging Your Grave With Your Own Hands!’ is quite odd. Is it really possible to dig my own grave? The truth is it is. You may actually be doing this with your fork and your knife (yes the cutlery you use to eat).
It is commonplace to hear this saying “you are what you eat”. Food is the building block in the body. Your cells are made up of what you eat. So, if you eat right your cells will be strong. Is it any wonder that cancers, life-threatening and chronic diseases are becoming commonplace in Nigeria.
But isn’t all food the same? Unfortunately, all food is not the same. Thanks to advances in technology which are used in the growing and cultivating of foods.
So let’s see why you may actually be digging your graves with what you are currently consuming. Did you know that a basic meal we all eat regularly like white bread is actually wheat that has been drained of all the necessary nutrients from the body so it tastes good and looks pleasant to the eye?
Another is white sugar. This has gone through preparations that remove useful nutrients and have harmful substances to the body. White flour and white sugar, fortunately, are vital ingredients in the pastries, biscuits and cakes we consume.
So, you can imagine one that consumes these items gradually on a daily basis is slowly building a house (the human body) with poor building materials. That’s why all of a sudden that house comes crashing down. Is it any wonder that strange diseases are slowly becoming part of life in Nigeria?
We can sit idle and say there is nothing we can do about it and feel we are confined to this curse of strange illnesses invading our lives or we can take our lives into our hands and decide to pick healthier alternatives daily.
I would advise you to watch what you eat. Eat healthier food as much as possible regardless of how young or old you are.
It’s time we built a stronger body and stopped digging our own graves.
