Social Media Addiction: What Is Your Social Media Usage Like Now That You Have So Much Time?

  • Is your mind always on social media even when you are supposed to be doing other things?
  • Do you feel urges to use social media more and more over time?
  • Is social media a gateway for you to forget issues and problems?
  • Do you struggle to curtail your use of social media?
  • Are you restless without social media?

If you answered yes to a few of these questions then you are one of fairly standard, habitual social media user according to Mark Griffiths and Daria Kuss psychologists at Nottingham Trent University in the U.K.

According to Wikipedia: Problematic social media use, also known as social media addiction or social media overuse, is a proposed form of psychological or behavioural dependence on social media platforms, also known as Internet addiction disorder, and other forms of digital media overuse.

The use of social media is not addictive to a majority of people but there are those to whom it is an addiction and some who are dangerously close. It could be quite a challenge especially among the younger generation but that does not mean that the older ones are exempted from its lures.

We are in a lockdown. So much time on so many people’s hands that they turn to social media. Why is social media so addictive? I am no addiction or social media addiction therapist,  but I did come across a great article by Martin Boeddeker the owner of the site www.findfocus.net.

It is an easy ready that I will like to recommend to you. You may not be addicted but you may know someone who is. You are at home now, watch out for the rest of the family. Be your brother’s keeper. Here is an article by Martin Boeddeker titled, “The 3 Little Known Reasons Why Social Media Is so Addictive.” [Read it here: https://findfocus.net/why-social-media-is-addictive/]

The battle to put the use of social media use within normal limits gets harder by the day because it is actually more beneficial for the social media companies for you to remain on their platforms so that they can bombard you with ads. That’s how they make money; when people see the ads and respond they make money.

You will be shocked to know the amount of information the social media platforms have on you. Social media is good but as someone once said, too much of everything is not good. Let everything be done in moderation. Once more, enjoy the article: “The 3 Little Known Reasons Why Social Media Is so Addictive.” [Click here to read: https://findfocus.net/why-social-media-is-addictive/]
