5 Tips To Help Safeguard Your Privacy

I got an email from Microsoft that I thought it worth sharing with all of you.
If Microsoft sends it, it only makes sense you take heed to it, after all, they are the biggest software company in the whole world with a market cap of over One Trillion dollars. Yes. One trillion dollars. Moreover, they made Windows 10, the most popular OS in the PC world.

So, these are a few tips from them. I also took the liberty of getting some of the articles directly from them and including it here. I take no credit whatsoever. It is like they say, “straight from the horse’s mouth.”
By the way, this applies to Windows 10 PC users. Enjoy and be safe.

Here are some simple tips and resources to help you protect your privacy while you’re on, or off your PC.

Unlock your computer using your face, fingerprint or secure PIN.1

One of the more secure ways to use your PC is to set up a Windows Hello.

Windows Hello is a more personal, more secure way to get instant access to your Windows 10 devices using fingerprint, facial recognition, or a secure PIN. Most PC’s with fingerprint readers already work with Windows Hello, making it easier and safer to sign into your PC. Here’s how to set it up: https://bit.ly/34F72mG

Control which apps get to use your camera and microphone.

According to Microsoft: Some people worry about unknown apps, organizations, or malware using their camera or microphone. Whenever your camera or microphone are used, you should be in charge. To help you understand when your camera is turned on, the following indicators are provided: https://bit.ly/34KxeMP

Create and use strong passwords.

“Criminals can try to break your password, but sometimes it’s easier to exploit human nature and trick you into revealing it. You’re most vulnerable to scams that look genuine.
You might receive an email message pretending to be from an online store (like eBay or Amazon) or a phone call from your “bank” that tries to convince you of the “legitimate” need for your password or other sensitive information. It could be a phishing scam. (You may have heard these con games referred to as social engineering.)
Here are some guidelines to follow to protect your passwords and other sensitive information: https://bit.ly/2EFYDob

Manage privacy options in Windows 10 settings.

Privacy matters. You want to be sure that only what you give consent to is what can be seen or assessed with regards to your privacy.

Do you know what private information about you could be tracked by unwanted parties? Well, Windows gives you control over your privacy. Take time to make sure about what you permit or don’t. Here’s how to do that: https://bit.ly/2Ez6cxj

Help ensure your PC can detect the latest threats. Get Windows 10 updates automatically.2

There are always threats out there. The bad guys don’t sleep. No, they don’t. That is the more reason why you need to make sure you always have the latest security updates for you PC, so that you can sleep easy.

It is better to have your PC updated automatically unless you are a real Pro and know what you are doing and how to meander the risks involved by doing it manually.
Here is how to let Windows automatically handle updates for you: https://bit.ly/3b33snL

It is important to keep safe. Use these simple tips. It will help you keep safe. Don’t disregard them. The most powerful things are usually simple in nature. Take them seriously and you will save yourself from a lot of headache and heartache.
