Black Friday, White Saturday

Hello, what can I say? Sometimes, life does get in the way. But I think the most important thing is that I am here. I had a couple of questions from last week’s post and the most prominent one was “does that mean I have to stop using seasoning altogether?”

The truth is I refuse to give you a yes or no answer. The message I am trying to pass along is the awareness that MSG can cause a lot of damage to your system. Ok here is a tip.

I know for a fact that the popular brand “Knorr” has a no MSG alternative that is made from vegetables. This is a very good alternative and of course the list I gave you has so many other alternatives you can access all around you.

Remember the lesson is that you become more aware of what you feed yourself. With that out of the way, let’s play around a bit with the colors associated with the Legal Profession…black and white.

And let’s start from the widely spread American holiday…Black Friday…who did any real shopping yesterday?

No response? Alright fine, who had white bread this morning? C’mon as Nigerians, we are united by our love for Agege Bread. You do know that white bread and white sugar tops the list of threats
to your health.

Now some of you might be aware of the fact that a few of the chemicals used to bleach the clothes we wear is also used to make bread look white, have you ever thought to find out what chemicals exactly are these? Let’s list them;
• Potassium
• Bromate
• Axzodicarbonamide
• Chlorine dioxide gas
• Nitrogen oxide
• Chlorine
• Nitrosyl and
• Benzoyl peroxide mixed with various chemical salts.
…and I said a couple. THAT’S A LOT!!!

Now Chloride oxide one of the chemicals used combines with proteins producing Alloxan and this has been found to trigger  diabetes in laboratory animals (guinea pigs).

I could end the post here, but I need to give you a clear picture of what we are dealing with here. White Bread is made from wheat flour from which bran and germ layers have been removed producing a light color flour. The milling procedure is to give the bread a longer shelf life, but in the process, natural oils are also removed to avoid rancidity. Simply put, your delicious white bread is devoid of nutritional oils and laden with chemicals.

Once again, I will list out the nutrients along with the percentages missing or destroyed in white bread.

• 50% of all calcium is lost
• 70% of phosphorus
• 80% of iron
• 98% of magnesium
• 75% of manganese
• 50% of potassium and
• 65% of copper
• 80% of thiamin
• 60% of riboflavin
• 75% of niacin
• 50% of pantothenic acid.
• 50% of Pyridoxine

Am I saying no white bread?

I leave that to you to decide but get this White bread’s rapid  digestion in the system overloads the blood with sugar which is quickly up taken by the system causing you to feel hungry and makes you over eat.

Hello! Weight loss tip. Stay away from white bread.

I think we have dealt with one too many scientific terminologies today, but you get the idea.

I should call it a day. Now I know the questions and concerns like “How about wheat bread?” or “You didn’t divide deep into white sugar” is going to come up, I’ll adjourn this hearing until next week.

And it’s a wrap! We are still on the terrorist watch so be safe, be security conscious, if you see something, say something and remain healthy.
God bless
