Bad Eating Patterns? I Blame Everything On The Legal Profession…

Bad Eating patterns? I blame everything on the Legal Profession. That’s our topic for today.  Before that, I got a meal plan.

I got a request for a breakfast plan, a subject I assumed had already been dissected and consumed, but I forgot to take into consideration, the fact that our list grows daily. So once again, here is the entire meal plan….breakfast, lunch and dinner.

About two weeks ago, we spoke about stress and the ripple effect it can have on your body, your career and your relationships. Today, I want to address an effect that can be aggravated by stress. It is a stomach ulcer.

For a while now, I have blamed almost every ailment on the strenuous nature of the legal profession and truth be told, if “the Legal Profession” was a real human being, I would be slammed with so many injunctions (that’ll literally outlast my generation) for making such allegations. Thank goodness I’ve got you on my side.

Before I go ahead to pass judgment, let’s take a good look at what Ulcer really is.

When I was younger, or at least before I turned 10 years, I would get excited once I noticed food was being prepared. In medical school, we were taught that other organs act the same way, starting from the mouth where digestive juice is produced, to help break the food for the nourishment of the body. The stomach is bathed in digestive juices and an important one is hydrogen chloride which aids in digestion and breaks down of foods.

Over time, if this juice in the stomach is being produced without any food to work on, it starts working on the walls of the stomach or the stomach lining and that is when you start developing an ulcer.

What can you do to prevent it? Never skip a meal!

Just in case my advice is a bit too late and you are rather looking to manage and perhaps heal your ulcer, then I have a few suggestions for you;

  • Go green: Vegetables that are rich in fibre and fibre helps in healing and repairing ulcers.
  • Manage your stressors at work. This is vital because stress aggravates ulcer. Please refer to the stress management techniques we addressed weeks ago. It can be found here
  • This may sound alien to a lot of people but taking a 3 day fast according to Dr Fuhrman a specialist in internal medicine and healing foods where you restrict yourself to fluids specifically water and juices (preferably natural) can actually repair ulcer wounds.

At this point, I want you to know that there are a number of things asides from hunger and stress that trigger ulcers they include alcohol and cigarette smoking. These must be avoided.

Refuse to let stomach ulcers be a part of your everyday life. Refuse to be tied to the constant use of medication, and develop a few healthy habits today!
